Carolina Panthers owner Jerry Richardson has asked No. 1 draft pick Cam Newton to stay clear of tattoos and piercings.
At their first meeting, Richardson asked the star quarterback whether he had either of those things. Newton responded, “No, sir.” Richardson said he’d like to keep it that way.
He told this to Charlie Rose of PBS during a recent interview. Rose said the owner sounded like Vince Lombardi.
“No, I just sound reasonable to me,” he replied.
I know a lot of people are appalled by the request. I thought, “how dare he ask him that” too. If you take time to actually think about it, it will benefit Cam big time. I mean look at him……. He looks like a good wholesome boy who can be marketed that way. He just looks more presentable. Wouldn’t you want a polished young man like that marketing your products? The boy looks good. Sure you can get a tatted up athlete and then make him all up, but we all know that he is tatted all up.
I know 90% of my readers are tatted up. If that’s your thing, do you. Obviously that was never Cam’s thing anyway. He has no holes nor is he inked.
Let me also add that I never let my son get piercings. He’s old enough to get them now, but he does not want them or tatts. He’s actually glad that I never let him get a piercing. When I see these little boys with BOTH ears pierced, I shake my head. That is so irresponsible, ghetto and silly to me. It’s just dumb.
Gilbert, with his backtracking behind lost his bid to keep his children’s mother from filming on Basketball Wives LA. Although he tweeted up a storm that it benefited him if she did the show, he totally contradicted himself by waging a war to stop her. Oh well. I’m done trying to understand this guy.
Gilbert Arenas’ ex-fiancee is free to talk smack and get in as many catfights as she wants on “Basketball Wives LA” — thanks to a federal court decision today.
A judge ruled against the NBA star’s request to block Laura Govan from appearing on the show and mentioning his name.
The judge said Gilbert’s claim that details of his family life should not be aired on the reality show — is undercut by the fact he has “tens of thousands of Twitter users who follow [him] as he tweets about a variety of mundane occurrences.”
Arenas has 51,103 Twitter followers. He and Govan have 4 children together.

I dang near choked when I read this. She ALLEGEDLY beat the brakes off her boyfriend on several occasions. She also smash his junkage and left it throbbing. Then he went into hiding. Where in the h*ll do they do this ish at? This girl is totally gangster. TMZ knows they could have found a better picture then the one they have up. They got jokes.
L.A. Sparks rookie Jantel Lavender — the #5 overall pick in the 2011 WNBA Draft – allegedly kneed her ex-BF in the junk so hard, his groin area was “throbbing from the pain” … this according to legal docs obtained by TMZ.
According to court papers filed in L.A. County Superior Court, Lavender’s ex Adam Ashley obtained a temporary restraining order against the 6’4″ athlete two weeks ago … claiming he’s been “in hiding” ever since a July 5 altercation where Lavender allegedly grabbed a knife and threatened to kill him.
In the docs, Ashley also says Lavender “grabbed my head and slammed it into the wall. She grabbed my neck and was choking me.”
Ashley claims it wasn’t the first time Lavender got violent with him — alleging she also tried to choke him during a fight in June. During that altercation, Ashley claims, “While I was grabbing for her hands she kneed me in the growing [SIC] area. My private area was throbbing from the pain.”
Jantel has been ordered to stay at least 100 yards away from Ashley until the next court hearing.
After the judge granted the restraining order against Jantel — she filed a request for a restraining order of her own against Adam … claiming he attempted to punch her during a recent screaming match at her home.
……..and we can certainly see why. I can’t believe she’s looking like this. The girl is stunning. I’m particularly anxious to see what she will do with this collaboration with Lionsgate. I heard she’s has a ton of scripts to sift through. No I didn’t make it to her concert in Cleveland. Things just didn’t go as I planned. They never do. I did hear that she gave a stellar performance. I still have hope that I will see her perform live and in person one day.
Update: Janet’s peeps just added this video to her facebook wall.
New York, NY, August 24, 2011 – Blackglama is pleased to announce that Janet Jackson will be the first legend to be featured for the second year consecutively in the brand’s iconic “What Becomes a Legend Most?” advertising campaign. “It became clear in our discussions of who the Legend should be this year, that continuing the momentum with Janet made complete sense,” says Joe Morelli, CEO of Blackglama. “She embodies glamour, luxury and sophistication, everything that Blackglama stands for.”
Unquestionably a legend in the world of entertainment, Janet Jackson’s albums, including Control, janet, All For You and Number Ones, have sold over 100 million copies worldwide and her most recent “JANET JACKSON Number Ones; Up Close And Personal” World Tour broke box office records making her one of the best-selling female artists of all time. She is the only recording artist to have Grammy™ nominations spanning the categories Dance, Pop, Rap, Rock and R&B. Janet is also an accomplished actress, with starring roles in television and film including Poetic Justice, Nutty Professor, Why Did I Get Married?, Why Did I Get Married Too? and For Colored Girls.
Last year’s campaign thrust Janet Jackson amongst some of the world’s most legendary entertainers who have starred in the popular Blackglama “What Becomes a Legend Most?” campaign. The initiative was revived by noted advertising agency Laspata DeCaro, and ads were photographed by Rocco Laspata.
“The primary difference is that the initial campaigns were focused on a singular image – a legend and a coat,” says Charles DeCaro. “Our recent branding iterations have evolved imparting a distinct fashion sensibility. Multiple images showcase innovative designs and the relevant multi-faceted ways Blackglama – as a product – can be appropriated.”
The first ad debuts in the September issue of W Magazine.
