Teen Finds Finger in Arby’s Sandwich

Arby's

I had my qualms with Arby’s before and this story totally seals the deal for me.  Not even their Market Fresh sandwiches can bring me back.

A 14-year-old boy found a finger in his roast beef sandwich.

Ryan Hart, a 14-year-old boy from Michigan, had a rude surprise when he bit into his Arby’s roast beef sandwich. “I was like, ‘that’s got to be a finger,’” he told the Jackson Citizen Patriot. “It was just nasty.”

Reportedly, a restaurant employee cut off her finger with a meat slicer while preparing the meal. She left her station to deal with the emergency, and other employees, who were unaware of the injury, continued to complete the order.

“Somebody loses a finger and you keep sending food out the window,” said the teen’s mom, Jamie Vail. “I can’t believe that.” She added that following the gruesome discovery, her son was “traumatized,” couldn’t eat or sleep, and had been prescribed medication Fox News reports.

John Gray, Arby’s vice president of corporate communications, provided Yahoo! Shine with a statement saying, “Arby’s wants to reassure customers that we are committed to providing quality food in a safe and healthy environment. We are deeply concerned and apologetic to the guest involved in this unfortunate incident….An isolated and unfortunate accident occurred in a franchisee’s Jackson, Michigan restaurant in which an employee was injured. Upon learning of the incident, the franchisee’s restaurant team shut down food production and thoroughly cleaned and sanitized the restaurant. The franchisee fully cooperated with the Health Department during the investigation, and the restaurant was given the approval to remain open.”

This is not the first time human remains have been found in a fast food meal, but this case might be the most extreme.

  • A Dayton Ohio man sued Arby’s in 2005 for reportedly serving him a chicken sandwich topped with a piece of human skin.
  • In a famous 2005 hoax, a Las Vegas woman found a human finger in Wendy’s chili but police later discovered she had cooked her husband’s colleague’s finger (which he had lost in a work accident) and slipped it into the bowl herself.
  • An Albany-area man allegedly found a bloody bandage in the crust of his Pizza Hut pie in 2011.
  • Also in 2011, Texan woman found blood on her French fries while eating at a Houston-area Crackle Barrel.

Do you think the health and safety standards are high enough at fast food restaurants? Please let us know in the comments below.

McDonald Sign

*Don’t read this while eating.  This is just gross.*

A Mickey D’s worker was busted after  a clump of phlegm was found floating in a customer’s sweet tea.  The customers had complained that their tea wasn’t sweet enough, so they brought it back, but when they got home it still wasn’t sweet enough.  So they opened the lid to add more sugar and found woogies.

I’m already freaked out by several things when it comes to eating at a restaurant and this just solidifies it.  I avoid sending improperly cooked food back for fear that it may get stomped or spit on before it get’s back to my plate.  I also order a cup for tea, so I can clean my utensils in hot water before I throw down.

You do not mess with folks food; you just don’t.  I say off with that fool’s head d*mn it.  Do you have a sanitation ritual you go through when dining out?

A McDonald’s employee is facing felony charges after caught spiting in two customers’ cups of iced tea after the drinks were returned for not being sweet enough.

Authorities in South Carolina say 19-year-old Marvin Washington Jr. was arrested Wednesday and charged with malicious tampering with food.

‘They go home, pop the lids off their sweet tea to put some sugar in it and low and behold, to much of their surprise, a very large chunk of bodily fluid and phlegm in the top of their drink,’ a health worker told WSPA.

Greenville County investigators say surveillance video caught Washington leaning over the cups before he filled them Saturday at the Simpsonville restaurant for a mother and her daughter.

The owner of the McDonald’s says he follows stringent food safety procedures and asked people not to reach conclusions until all the facts come out.

Washington was released on a $5,000 bond but faces felony charges which could be up to 20 years in prison.  ‘If something is deliberately done to your food product it becomes a health issue,’ the health worker said.  It wasn’t immediately clear Wednesday if Washington had a lawyer.

Good luck finding one that won gag at the sight of his filthy azz.

Kimberly Smedley Faces Prison for Illegally Injecting Silicon for Butt Injections

Kimberly Smedley, 45, is an unlicensed cosmetic surgeon, faces up to five years in prison for injecting industrial silicone into the buttocks of female customers.  She operated her illegal practice out of hotel rooms in Baltimore, Washington, Detroit, Philadelphia and New York.

She kept the silicone in a water jug for the procedures – and used “super glue with cotton balls to prevent silicone leaking out” of the women’s flesh.  She would reportedly charge $500 and $1,600 and the transactions were always in cash and many of her customers were strippers.  That had to be a lot of sweaty nasty one dollar bills, but I digress.

Kimberly would allegedly lie and tell her clients that the silicone was medical grade, but what she used was actually intended for metal or plastic lubrication, as an additive for paint and coatings, and furniture or automotive polishes.

She was found out after one of her clients became sick.  She was arrested at a hotel where she was preparing to host another “pumping party”

Kimberly will be sentenced in July and as part of a plea deal, will be fined $250,000.

Kimberly who was from Atlanta, used the money to live a posh lifestyle. She reportedly lived in an area where the homes were worth about  $500,000.

Rollasole vending machine

Rollasole is a company that offers a vending machine that holds emergency flats in the event you just can’t take those stilettos.  This is something I can totally relate to.  I would normally carry extra’s in my car, but there have been times when I may forget to bring them.   The vending idea has been  pushed at celebrity events like the Golden Globe.  Your girl wont be attending the Globes anytime soon, but I completely understand the idea.  Now on the non-celebrity level they are being pushed to those who want to be comfortable on the dance floor.  No honey, I don’t do those either, but do you.  Another reason I may carry a spare would be a long walk on concrete.  I don’t like to walk on concrete in my heels….that’s a sure fire way to ruin the soles of your shoes.   So what do you think.  Do you think these are a good idea?

He actually looks pretty.  He betta be careful hangin’ with the fellas from now on.

Burger King has begun testing home delivery.  Testing began in the fall at four of its restaurants in the Washington, D.C. area.  They are also testing three in Maryland and one in Virginia. The fast-food giant will be looking into covering a wider area. I’m not sure if that will be go off well, but they feel they have things covered.

Burger King says it developed a “proprietary thermal packaging technology.”  Sounds like a fancy way of saying aluminum foil, but okay.  They say the packaging will enable the customer to get their Whopper hot and fresh, and their french fries are delivered hot and crispy.”

I already complain if my fries are cold when they finally get to me when I am right there in the restaurant.  I doubt very seriously if the fries are going be on point once they get to the customer s home.  The burgers or sandwiches may travel well. On the other hand, that same time is taken when you travel from the drive thru to home.  With that said maybe it will work.

Any who, during their test run, there is a $2 delivery fee and a requirement that the minimum orders are between $8 to $10.  The stores try to deliver within 30 minutes of the time the order was phoned in or ordered online.  They also require that customers live a 10-minute driving distance of the store.  They don’t use cups for their drinks, they sell their drinks in bottles.   They do not deliver breakfast and the hours are between 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.

The models that are in question were sold between September 2005 and December 2006.  The current models has a touchscreen, FM radio and a pedometer.

Apple has issued a warning that the batteries on the iPod Nano can catch fire, but only on the very oldest models.  So, if you can find yours or one, you better get rid of it or turn it in.  Well don’t get rid of it turn it in, because the problem with the batteries appear to get worst over time.  There have been incidents of the batteries overheating and setting the users’ clothes on fires.

Apple issued a statement that went as follows:

“Apple has determined that, in very rare cases, the battery in the iPod nano (1st generation) may overheat and pose a safety risk. Affected iPod nanos were sold between September 2005 and December 2006.  This issue has been traced to a single battery supplier that produced batteries with a manufacturing defect.  While the possibility of an incident is rare, the likelihood increases as the battery ages. Apple recommends that you stop using your iPod nano (1st gen) and follow the process noted below to order a replacement unit, free of charge.”

Apple says serial numbers will be checked to ensure the units are affected and you can also check yours on their website. Your replacements will be sent to you within six weeks.

A Florida woman  opened her cell phone bill to find she owed a staggering $201,000 and it was not an error.  She really did stake that much in texting and data charges.  How you ask?  The woman Celina Aarons, has two brothers who were born deaf and cannot speak.  The younger one named Shamir doesn’t work, and Celina is really close to him.  The easiest way for them to communicate is by texting.

Celina has a data plan and the bill usually comes to a total of about $175, but  Shamir went to Canada for a two-week holiday.  They didn’t think to change their plan to an international plan.  They sent over 2000 text and downloaded videos.  The data charges alone netted them an addition $2000 to their bill.

After Celina got her bill she said: ‘I asked three, four times. I was like “Are you serious?’  She told WSVN-Channel 7 News: ‘I was freaking out. I was shaking, crying. ‘I was like my life is over.’  She says that it’s impossible for her to pay the bill.

She feels the phone company should have told her the bill was getting so high and she’s right.  Normally, as soon as I go over the company sends me a text letting me know that I have just went over my data plan.  If you go over in a ridiculous manner they will shut off your phone completely, which makes you call in to see what’s going on.  It is then you are set up with a suitable plan.   Celina is with T Mobile and it didn’t go down quite like that.

T Mobile said that Shamir was billed $10 per megabyte and that they had texted the rate to him.  Four additional texts were sent to his phone as the charges surged, they said. As a courtesy, T-Mobile has reduced her bill to $2,500 and they gave her 6 months to pay it.  I think they need to revamp their policies as well.  What non business customer knowingly rakes up a $200,000?  I will say that, that  was really stellar of them to waive the heck out of that bill like they did.

Another tip is when you travel internationally it’s good to port a phone and buy a local sim card to avoid debacles like these.

I bet the yuppies are restless

Gap Inc. said it plans to close about 21% of its North American Gap brand stores between now and the end of 2013, a huge retreat for the retailer and a looming headache for mall owners already beset with vacancies.

Gap plans to reduce its North American store count to 700 by year-end 2013, down from 889 now, excluding outlet stores.

It has been decreasing its North American store count over the past few years, but hadn’t disclosed the exact percentage it would cut in the next two years until Thursday.

Gap continues to struggle with its domestic business in the U.S. Gap’s profit fell 19% in its most recent quarter. In North America, sales at namesake and Banana Republic stores fell 3% and 2%, respectively, while Old Navy same-store sales were flat.

The brand is stuck in American retail’s hollowed-out midsection, which consumers have been abandoning for years as they split their dollars between cheap basics and must-have luxury items. Gap’s would-be turnaround has become a quagmire of sorts for Gap Inc. CEO Glenn Murphy, who has long preached the importance of speed to his executives, pushing to cut bureaucracy and get clothes to stores faster.

In May, Gap parted with the top designer for its Gap brand, who was unable to get consumers excited again about Gap’s apparel. By the CEO’s own admission earlier this year, the merchandise had become “dull.” One key problem has been coming up with compelling fashions for women’s shirts.

For its discount Old Navy chain, the company is downsizing its store sizes while keeping the number of the locations little changed.

At the same time, Gap is expanding in China.

The casual-apparel retailer expects to have roughly 45 stores in China by the end of fiscal 2012, and expects to double its franchise stores to about 400 by the end of fiscal 2014.

Gap, which is holding an investor meeting Thursday in New York City, said current stores in China are performing well. The company in August opened its third Gap store in Shanghai, bringing total stores in China at the time to six.

It sounds like a pretty good deal depending the circumstances.  If you charge admission and you have a home theater room and or system that may be a cool ticket.  Of course you have to charge admission.  Now movie theaters are in jeopardy of being a thing of the past.  Technology is getting so gangsta.

LOS ANGELES – Movie studio Universal Pictures and its new parent, cable TV giant Comcast Corp., will try giving film buffs a chance to watch a movie that’s still in theaters from the comfort of their living rooms. But the price tag for a single movie could have consumers spitting out their popcorn: $60.

The test involves “Tower Heist,” a PG-13 rated comedy caper starring Eddie Murphy and Ben Stiller due out Nov. 4.

Subscribers to Comcast Corp.’s digital cable service who have a high-definition TV and live in Atlanta and Portland, Ore., will be able to rent the movie starting Nov. 23 and watch it unlimited times in a 48-hour window. The test is available to about 500,000 people.

The cities were chosen because they are Comcast markets in which a significant number of people pay for digital cable and an HD channel package, a requirement to participate. Such services combined cost about $60 a month.

The two cities’ residents also regularly go see movies in theaters, making the cities perfect petri dishes for testing whether people take up the offer without cutting back on theater-going. The idea is to target families who might pay just as much on tickets, popcorn and a babysitter, but have chosen not to because they’d rather stay at home.

Well would you?   I know I would.  Heck, you can even make a few bucks.  Atlanta is about to have  a new hustle….at least for a month.
