Bulls-2A

by Dave Daniels

The Bulls were out-rebounded for only the 4th time this year, and Derrick Rose’s second game back from turf toe was soured by the Bulls first  home loss. Tom Thibodeau was not pleased with their play overall:  “As soon as you start feeling good about yourself, you get knocked on your a*s.”

He was happy with the last play, however:  “Derrick in the open floor. You know, made the right play, I thought he made the right play. And the help was there, they collapsed. Scalabrine open corner three. Make or miss league. We miss.” Thibodeau was less happy with their overall play on defense.

“You got to be ready from the start. Desperation in the fourth quarter, more effort. That effort’s got to be there from the start of the game.”

Rose felt similar about the last shot, and it would have been hard to get a better look  than a wide-open three. The Bulls prefer a Kyle Korver three, but would have settled with Scalabrine for the win.  ” I think it was a good shot. At the time, I thought I didn’t have a shot. And I think I made the right play, If anything I’m gonna learn from it. We’re gonna learn from it as a team. We’re gonna try to not put our self in this position anymore. Put teams away early.” That will be the key for the Bulls moving forward, giving 100 percent effort the whole game, because they are not as talented offensively as other teams in the league, but the area where they can even the gap is their effort on the defensive side.

You could tell that Luol Deng, their best perimeter defender, was missed. Paul George and Danny Granger did what ever they wanted in the third quarter, repeatedly dunking the ball, penetrating the lane, and swishing open jumpers. His scoring was missed as well in a game where the Bulls had trouble with their jumpshot. But mostly, it is his lock-down perimeter defense that made the difference between a win and a loss tonight. Despite Derrick Rose’s best efforts.

Ronnie Brewer added, “D. Rose is D. Rose. Guy was open. You know he makes plays for himself and plays for others. It shows his unselfishness, that he made a play. Guy was wide open in the corner. He coulda took a shot with a guy on him, or he could of passed the ball to a wide-open person. He passed it to a wide-open person. Who had a great shot. He works on that shot every day. So, it’s a good shot, unfortunately it didn’t go in for him.”

It didn’t go in tonight for the Bulls, and if they keep leaning on Brian Scalabrine, a lot more will not go in for them.

Celebrity Style Watch: Buns!

Buns are a quick and easy way to take your look from drab to fab! The style is often worn on the red carpet by our favorite celebs, but it can easily be turned into a casual daytime look. Best of all, maintenance of this style is zero to none. Depending on how intricate you get with the design of your bun, the style can be completed in less than 15 minutes. Simply pull your hair into neat a ponytail and wrap the excess hair into a circular bun. If you’ve got a few extra minutes to spare, braid the ponytail before wrapping it into a bun to create a ‘Braided-Bun.’ Fasten your hair with hair pins or hair ties of your choosing and there you have it—A quick and stylish alternative to enhance your look.

It’s no secret that when women look for hair styles, celebrities often help to impact their decisions. While we are all trendsetters in our own right, there’s just something enchanting about the glamour flaunted by the likes of Beyoncé, Rihanna, and Kelly Rowland- to name a few. Although we may not be able to afford their stylists just yet, there are tons of do-it-yourself techniques that’d help to spruce up your look without breaking your pockets! To help, I’ve broken down some popular star looks for you to attempt.

Do It Your Self

While it’s no longer a secret that Beyonce’ rocks lace wigs ($300-800), you can achieve her look without buying such an expensive piece. For this look I’d recommend 8-12 ounces of straight human hair extensions. Try sewing in your extensions leaving out the parameter and frontal sections of your hair. The Curls can be created by the use of a 1-2 inch curling iron (or flat iron). To keep up these curls, I usually add flexi rods while I sleep :) .

Do It Your Self

Kelly Rowland rocked these curls about two years ago, but they have continued to be a go-to look for me. Curls are fun and sassy and most importantly, they are low maintenance (depending on the grade of hair extensions you use). Although Kelly uses a lace wig, I suggest using or deep wave extensions to replicate these curls. A sew in is also suggested for installing these extensions. Depending on how big you’d like to go with the hair, I’d say to use 8-12 ounces for volume.

 Do It Your Self

Rihanna’s pixie cut may require a little expertise. But this is still a fun and edgy look that can be maintained by yourself. I personally rock a short cut from time to time. While I go to my stylist for the initial cut, I have become pretty savvy at maintaining the look between visits. Washing and setting short hair is really important. Invest in a portable hair dryer & sculpt your wet hair with a foam setting lotion to keep your look in tact. The pixie cut is carried off by the longer pieces of hair in the front. Try making your own clip in extensions to create a bang and add length to the front of your hair.
