NeNe Leakes-lands new role on The New Normal

In addition her recurring role on Glee, NeNe Leakes has landed another reoccurring role on “The New Normal.”

One thing about NeNe is you can’t knock this girl’s hustle.  If she wasn’t a rich b*tch before; she will be soon.  The girl has her grind going full speed ahead and it doesn’t look like she stopping anytime soon.  I guess this is a prime example of when keeping it real goes right. Bloop Bloop!!!

The Jasmine Brand spotted NeNe’s big announcement on twitter:

Thanks to a little tweet hustlin’, we’ve learned that Real Housewife of Atlanta star Nene Leaks a new show that she will be featured on, has been picked up by NBC.

The show, which is backed by Glee’s creator, Ryan Murphy, is a sitcom called ‘The New Normal’ and has quite an interesting description:

The New Normal, from Murphy and Glee scribe Ali Adler, revolves around a blended family of a gay couple (Andrew RannellsJustin Bartha) and the woman (Georgia King) who becomes a surrogate for them as they grow their family. Ellen Barkin co-stars, with NeNe Leakes on board as recurring.

Congrats on NeNe’s new gig.

michale Jackson and Pepsi global merchadising tour

PepsiCo Inc. is going on a reunion tour with The King of Pop.

I’m excited to see what they are going to do with this whole thing.  It’ll be nice to see and hear new things from Michael.  I miss him, so any chance I get to see him would be great.  A lot of people feel different about posthumous promotions of any fashion, but more people are all for it.  I think it’s going to be huge.  I’m hoping they wont forget us diet drinkers when they’re making those new cans.  Nicki Minaj is also teamed with Pepsi with her song Moments for Life.

The Purchase, N.Y.-based company on Thursday announced its deal with the estate of Michael Jackson to use the late pop star’s image for its new global marketing push. The nature of the promotion will vary by country, but will include special edition cans bearing Jackson’s image, a TV ad in some markets and chances to download remixes of some of Jackson’s most famous songs.

Pepsi, which first partnered with Jackson in 1983, did not disclose the terms of its deal with the singer’s estate.

The promotion is part of a global marketing blitz planned for the year ahead by Pepsi, which is looking to revive its brand and win back market share from The Coca-Cola Co. Next week, Pepsi is also launching a TV ad featuring singer Nicki Minaj and announcing details of its partnership with Twitter to stream concerts online.

The broader “Live For Now” campaign is intended to amplify the company’s longstanding ties with pop culture, said Brad Jakeman, who oversees the creative strategy for Pepsi’s carbonated drinks around the world.

Pepsi has a lot riding on its new push. Although the company has a diverse portfolio of brands including Frito-Lay, Quaker Oats and Tropicana, it’s often judged by the performance of its namesake cola. And in 2010, Pepsi was knocked out of the No. 2 spot among sodas in the U.S. by Diet Coke, with Coke remaining in the No. 1 position, according to the industry tracker Beverage Digest.

Last month, Pepsi also reported that volume in its key Americas beverages unit slipped by 1 percent in the first three months of the year.

The Jackson promotion is one aspect of Pepsi’s strategy to reverse that slide. Consumers in the U.S. and China will be the first to get a taste of the campaign in coming weeks, which is timed to coincide with the 25th anniversary of “Bad,” the singer’s multi-platinum album. The campaign will spread to about two dozen countries by fall.

In the U.S., the company is rolling out collectible 16-ounce blue cans that bear an image of Jackson striking one of his iconic poses. Consumers will be able to scan codes on the cans with their phones to download remixed tracks from “Bad.”

In the Chinese market, consumers will also see a TV ad featuring Jackson’s music. Contests will also let consumers win tickets to a Michael Jackson-inspired show by Cirque du Soleil and leather jackets inspired by the singer’s style. The global campaign builds on Pepsi’s deal with the singer’s estate last year to use his image in a commercial that premiered during the “The X Factor” TV show last year.

Although Pepsi is banking on the nostalgia Jackson can evoke, the partnership also resurrects painful memories.

In 1984, Jackson’s hair famously caught fire while filming a commercial for Pepsi at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. The blaze happened after a spark from a pyrotechnics display landed on the singer’s head. Jackson suffered severe burns and many trace his addiction to painkillers to the incident. Pepsi gave Jackson $1.5 million as a result.

Other music partnerships have led to controversy for Pepsi as well. In 2002, conservative commentator Bill O’Reilly ran a segment criticizing Pepsi for an ad featuring the rapper Ludacris. The company pulled the ad the next day, but ran into trouble a few months later when it ran ads featuring Ozzy Osbourne, who is known for peppering his speech with swear words. Hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons urged a boycott and the issue was resolved after Pepsi agreed to donate $3 million to charity.

The partnership with Nicki Minaj hasn’t yet raised many eyebrows, even though her lyrics also contain profanity and sexual content. Jakeman noted that Minaj’s song “Moment for Life” was selected for the ad because of specific lyrics that perfectly captured the Pepsi ethos of living in the moment.

Serena williams cops new endorsement deal

Serena Williams has a new gig endorsing Sleep Sheets.

Sleep Sheets are dissolving strips with melatonin that melt in your mouth.

“I’m not a sleeper. I’m kind of like my dad; never slept much,” she told the Huffington Post. “I can really go off of five hours of sleep, but obviously that’s not healthy.”

But will the sheets really help you get forty winks?

The strips, which are said to contain small amounts of the hormone melatonin, L-theanine, Goji berry and chamomile extract, are “certainly harmless,” said Dr. Laurence Engelberg, the medical director of the Sleep Apnea Center of Good Samaritan Hospital in West Islip.

He said that melatonin isn’t exactly a sleep aid — it’s been found to be helpful in resetting the body’s clock after jet lag or irregular work hours.

“The strips seem to contain a pretty small dose of melatonin,” he said. “They could make some people drowsy.”

He didn’t seem impressed by the other ingredients, describing them as “mostly inert.”

Engelberg suggests people with off-kilter hours that want to try melatonin do so two hours before they go to sleep.

Lying in a dark, quiet room after taking the melatonin will help your body adjust its rhythms.

Whether you take melatonin or not, he recommends practicing good sleep hygiene.

“The bed should be used only for sleeping and sex,” he said.

For people that have trouble falling asleep, he recommends not watching television in bed, turning off phones and email and not drinking caffeinated beverages after 3p.m.

What’s potentially more serious is when people report not being able to stay asleep and keep waking in the middle of the night.

This can be a sign of sleep apnea, a condition where people breathe irregularly through the night. The condition is linked to other health problems.

Williams is the latest to jump on the “strip” trend.

The original Sheets, strips treated with caffeine, are endorsed by NBA stars Amare Stoudemire and LeBron James.

I take melatonin at least twice a week so this is something I’ll definitely try.  After finding out that anything that contains diphenhydramine HCL can potentially cause death I twitch over to the natural melatonin and it works really good.

Naomi Campbell landed a new gig on a new model search reality show to find “The Face.”

Sookie Sookie…..Naomi will be be one of three coaches that are in search of “The Face.”  The show sounds similar to Tyra’s “America’s Next Top Model” this may or may not explain the sudden shake up at Tyra’s.   I’m just saying…. competition is enough to get natives real restless.  I’ve seen folks get shook over a lot less.  Pity!! Nonetheless, the details follow:

Oxygen today announced The Face, a new reality modeling competition series. Supermodel Naomi Campbell will be one of the three coaches that lead contestants through the Shine America-produced series as they battle on and off the runway to be a national spokesperson. Scouting and picking aspiring models from all over the world, Campbell and the other two coaches, as yet unnamed, will mentor a team through the rigors of the modeling industries. The winner of The Face will become the face of a major brand, also as yet unnamed. The series is part of the NBCUniversal owned network’s strategy to increase its original programming by 50%.

Ray-J

Ray J has landed a $1 million deal with Prince of Reins shaving gel.

The mouth piece of the money team is still making money!! (see the billboard ad after the rip)

Ray J has landed a new gig as a shaving gel spokesman. He and model socialite Sophie Monk are the new faces of Prince Reigns shaving serum.

Ray J and Sophie each inked $1 million for their endorsement deals.  The current ad is above where the two are featured in a sexy cuddle in a pool for the new Prince Reigns billboard.

Their photo shot for the billboard sparked rumors that the two are a couple.  Incidentally, she was spotted leaving his house.  Miss Thing had some explaining to do, specifically to her mom.   “I had to tell my mum that I had been over to Ray J’s house, but I was there for a modeling job for a new campaign for Prince Reigns, and I left at 3:30 and the only picture taken of me was at 3:30 in the afternoon when I arrived,” Sophie admitted.

I guess that explains things, but we know how suave Ray J is with the ladies, so who knows what will happen.

Kevin Hart has been added to the main stage lineup for the 2012 Essence Music Festival in New Orleans.  Organizers say Hart, hot on the heels of his starring role in last weekend’s No. 1 film, “Think Like a Man,” will debut his comedic talents during the festival scheduled for July 6-8 at the Superdome. Hart joins a lineup that includes Aretha Franklin, Mary J. Blige, Charlie Wilson, Ledisi, Fantasia, and Eve.

The festival drew more than 422,000 attendees last year.  Essence Fest began as a one-time event celebrating the 25th anniversary of Essence magazine. The festival is organized by Essence Communications Inc., a media company with a presence in publishing, live events and online services.

Alright alright alright……..Kevin is a funny guy.  I can see him being highly sought after for a lot more big screen films with him as the star.  He is definitely that guy.  Will you be there?
