Legal Whispers: Madonna Adds Statement to Lee Daniels’ Defamation Lawsuit to Support Sean Penn

Legal Whispers: Madonna Adds Statement to Lee Daniels' Defamation Lawsuit to Support Sean Penn

Make no mistake about it.  Sean Penn is pissed.  If anyone thought he would let his lawsuit against Lee Daniels just fade away, think again.  Madonna just submitted a document to support Sen in his suit against Daniels.

If you recall, Lee Daniels publicly stated that Sean was an abuser of women during an interview with Hollywood Reporter.  He tried to defend Terrence Howard's abuse allegations stating, "[Terrence] ain't done nothing different than Marlon Brando or Sean Penn, and all of a sudden he's some f—in' demon." That's a sign of the time, of race, of where we are right now in America."

I'm assuming that he abuse claims were about Madonna because se submitted a formal declaration to the court that ultimately states that there was never any abused during their courtship and marriage.

Hollywood Reporter obtained a copy of the document:

That said, Sean is steadfast at holding Lee responsible for his actions.

"Unfortunately for Daniels, his statements — which by direct reference to Howard's misconduct, falsely accuse Penn of committing serious, multiple crimes against women — are not protected by the First Amendment," states the amended complaint. "As Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes famously observed almost 100 years ago, the First Amendment is not absolute. Just as it does not protect a person from 'shouting fire in a crowded theater,' it also does not protect defamatory conduct."

Lee has reportedly stepped in and paid for Sean's court costs for their impending battle in state court.  I seriously doubt Sean will remove his foot from Lee's throat as $10 million isn't small change and I'm sure he could use it.
