Indianapolis police say a 14-year-old girl found covered in blood faces a preliminary murder charge in her 4-year-old cousin's stabbing death.
Police spokesman Kendale Adams said Sunday the girl was arrested after being questioned by officers. She's being held on a preliminary murder charge at the Marion County Juvenile Detention Center.
Prosecutors will determine whether she'll be formally charged in the death of Leon Thomas III.
Officers were called about 11 p.m. Saturday to an Indianapolis apartment, where they found the bleeding boy. He was pronounced dead at a local hospital.
Police later found the 14-year-old girl, covered in blood and walking along a nearby street.
Adams says the boy and his 11-year-old sister were at their grandparent's apartment at the time of the attack. No additional details were released.

A 14-year-old girl is charged with murder after allegedly stabbing her four-year-old cousin to death in Indianapolis, Indiana.
The girl frequently babysat for the toddler, Leon Thomas III, and was often seen around the neighborhood pushing him in a stroller.

She stabbed the four-year-old multiple times in the abdomen. The teen then ran away, fleeing through the neighborhood. Police caught up with her shortly after the assault.
They found her walking a city street about four blocks from the apartment, blood covered her hands and was spattered across her shirt, WTHR-TV reports.
Emergency crews performed CPR on Leon and took him to the hospital, where he died shortly after arrival.
The the troubled teen, whose name has not been released, lived with her grandparents, Bryan and Angie Shanks, who were upstairs in the apartment when the attack occurred.

Neighbors say they seldom saw him with his mother, news reports.
Instead, the teen often cared for Leon herself.
The vicious assault shocked neighbors and family members. Angie Shanks' cousin, Brooke Smith, told WTHR the teen always seemed well-adjusted and well-behaved.
'Very sweet, very sweet, never disrespectful. Well, not to me. I had never seen her be disrespectful to anybody,' she said.
Police charged the girl with murder after interviewing her at police headquarters. She is currently charged as a juvenile, though prosecutors are weighing adult charges.
'Our detectives are leaning towards there is some type of intention,' Indianapolis polie spokesman Kendale Adams told the TV station.
'I mean this isn't just what we are dealing with is numerous stab wound, the thought is that is hard for it be accidental.'
