When Steve Harvey signed on to do a nationally syndicated daytime TV talk show, producers considered basing the program in Connecticut or New York.   Although a Cleveland native, I would deduce that Cleveland never stood a chance at even being considered.  If his standup is conducive to his true feelings, he’s not to fond of coming home. Steve currently resides in Atlanta and it is rumored that it could have been chosen as well, but Steve decided on Chicago.

“But Chicago was my favorite pick,” said Harvey, 55, who lived downtown in the mid-’90s during his stint as morning radio host on WGCI-FM (107.5).

“It’s such a great city,” said the stand-up comic, author and TV and radio personality. “The restaurants are great. The neighborhoods are great. The downtown is probably one of the best downtowns there is. If I’ve got to take my family somewhere, I’ll take them there.”

Harvey already has a real estate agent scoping out potential new homes in the city for him and his wife, Marjorie, and the youngest of their seven children, Lori, 15, and Wynton, 14. (It won’t be Rosie O’Donnell’s $2.5 million Lake View pad.)

The family plans to move here in June, a few months before the debut in autumn of his hourlong talker, “Steve Harvey,” taped before a studio audience at NBC Tower. The show will air in Chicago at 2 p.m. weekdays on WMAQ-Channel 5.

Harvey is still undecided about which neighborhood he wants to live in — or which baseball team he’ll root for. But he’s sure about one thing: Life is about to get pretty hectic for the “Family Feud” host and radio star, who will broadcast his long-running morning show from the WVAZ-FM (102.7) studio downtown.

“It’ll be busy but it’s a blessing and I’ll take it,” Harvey said. “It beats sitting around wondering where the next gig is coming from.”

Q. How will your TV show be different?

A. There’s not a lot of male viewpoint on daytime TV. I’ve got kids. I have a wife. I think that’s a unique perspective. Above all else, there’s nobody in daytime TV that can beat me at the funny thing – except Ellen DeGeneres. She’s my girl. I love her. Other than Ellen, I think I’m the guy who’s gonna put more funny on television.

I’m going to take something from the old “Carol Burnett Show.” I’m going to walk out and talk to people. As a stand-up, I’m very good at talking to everyday people and being funny on the spot. That’s my forte. That right there is going to be a little different. After that, we’re going to get into some segments that aren’t there right now. I can’t give it away because I need the viewers.

Q. Will you have celebrity guests?

A. Not many. This show is going to be “real people” driven. I’ve been hosting “Family Feud” for almost 400 episodes. Not one single family has canceled. Celebrities cancel all the time. I found that dealing with everyday people — they have a lot more interesting stories. Celebrities don’t come on TV to be very open about anything. They come on to promote stuff. I want a show that’s going to inspire people and uplift people. It’s going to be a very positive show with a male perspective to it. I’ve made myself a champion for women for a lot of years now, and I think that will come through on the TV show.

Q. What will your typical day look like?

A. I’ll get up at 3:30, work out to 4:15. Get dressed, head over to the [radio] studio. I just need to walk through the door two minutes before 5. I don’t do any prep for my radio show. They’ve been begging me to do that for seven years. It doesn’t work for me. I’ll do that until 9 o’clock. I’ll sit down and eat and head across the street because NBC studios are right across the street from the radio station. I’ll prep for today’s show. Hair and makeup is a really quick process for me. Then I’ll start taping the show. Then it’s off to dinner with the wife and the kids.

Q. Are you hoping to capture some “Oprah” magic in Chicago?

A. Oprah did a lot for me by putting me on her show with the book and everything. If I could get a portion of that success, that would be great. We’re going to have a post meeting after every show. I learned that from Oprah, who was brilliant at that. Right after every show she had a post meeting to go over what worked and what didn’t work.

Q. Will you get a new studio at NBC Tower or inherit Jerry Springer’s old digs?

A. I don’t know what used to shoot in there. We’re going to do some remodeling and make it fit me. They’re going to dump the money and make it high-def.

Q. Where did you used to live in Chicago?

A. I lived on South Wabash in a high rise. Of course, I wasn’t doing as well as I’m doing now. I had some rental furniture in there. My wife won’t tolerate that this time.

Q. You’re going to keep your house in Atlanta but spend most of your time living in Chicago. Which will be home?

A. My home is wherever my family is. As long as I’ve got my wife and kids — this is the person I’ve turned into. Ten or 15 years ago, this would have been a disaster. When I was touring with the “Kings of Comedy” and all that, I was a different guy. I’m very stable now. When you find the right relationship, I think that can change a man. As long as I got my wife and my kids, I’m very cool with that.

Q. What did your kids say about moving to Chicago?

A. They’ve got their friends here [in Atlanta], so quite naturally they weren’t really keen on the move. But they understand this is what I do for a living. Dad’s old. This is his last shot. My kids don’t really have a choice. Since they don’t work and make any contribution to either place, they’ve got to go with whatever Mom and Dad come up with. They just want make sure that they can meet some new friends up there in Chicago. They want to know if they can decorate their own room. I said yes.

Q. Cubs or Sox?

A. That’s an ugly question! Definitely a Chicago Bulls fan, all day. I picked the Bears a lot in all my NFL picks last year. Haven’t decided on the baseball team yet.

Q. What do you make of Rosie reportedly leaving Chicago and taking her TV show to New York?

A. I hope it works out for her because I really like her. I think they’re still trying to find the magic in that show. She certainly had it in her old show. If I was Rosie, I’d just do Rosie. Rosie works. But it doesn’t affect me one way or the other. I’ve got to go up there and do the best I can do. There’s enough room for everybody. If she was up there I’d swing by and say hello.

Q. Are you nervous about this next chapter in your life?

A. I’ve never done this before. I’d be kidding you if I didn’t say I wasn’t nervous about it. I’m excited at the same time. It’s like a roller coaster: You’re having fun but you’re scared to death. When I’m a stand-up and I’m about to go on stage, it’s like walking out and stepping off a cliff. I just hope the [parachute] opens, it works real well and it’s a nice enjoyable ride. Because if you start falling and that chute don’t open, you’ve got problems. Let’s just get to Chicago, open that chute and hope it works well. I’m trusting in God on that one. He hasn’t failed me yet.

Steve is telling Ellen about the time his son tried to scare him.  As Steve tells Ellen that he ended up punching his son in the mouth, a guy comes from back stage and sneaks up behind Steve.  The guy is  fully dressed or protected in case of  a beat down.  That doesn’t happen.  Steve totally buckles.  He threw his leg up over the arm of the chair laid back and looked up at the guy with his eyes totally bucked out of his head.  The reaction after that was even funnier.  Steve is crazy for sure.

BTW, check out this scene form an episode of Family Feud.  So funny….

Her pastor and congregation is probably too through with her. That was a mess. Steve made it funny though.

This sounds like a  hot  lineup and sounds like it will do well.

Screen Gems has set the cast to surround Kevin Hart in Think Like A Man, the comedy based on Steve Harvey’s bestselling book. Michael Ealy, Jerry Ferrara, Taraji Henson, Romany Malco, Gary Owen and Gabrielle Union have joined the cast. Tim Story is directing a script by Keith Merryman & David A. Newman. Will Packer is producing through his Rainforest Films banner. Harvey is exec producer alongside Rushion McDonald and Rob Hardy. Production will start this summer. Hart plays a relationship expert who is quick to give advice even as his marriage is crashing.

This sounds so out left of field.  The part that she got mad when the audience laughed at his jokes just doesn’t sound right?  Sound like the lady that’s suing Diddy if you ask me.  Her reason for leaving changed during this conversation…….Did anybody catch that?  I can’t with this mess.  You be the judge.

Marjorie Harvey, Steve’s current wife has launched a defamation lawsuit against the previous wife Mary.  One may still wonder if the allegations are true.  What am I getting at you ask?  I wonder if slander is included in the suit.   Defamation is a little different from slander.

By definition defamation is an act of communication that causes someone to be shamed, ridiculed, held in contempt, lowered in the estimation of the community, or to lose employment status or earnings or otherwise suffer a damaged reputation. Such defamation is couched in ‘defamatory language’.   This would make the ex wife blatantly guilty of that right?

Now with a  slander allegation the defaming words have to be proven untrue.  This opens a door where I say again is it true?  Just wondering.  BV gave the details as follows:

Since their 2005 divorce, Shackelford claimed that she now has nothing, as Harvey also has full custody of their 15-year-old son, Wynton.
Now, the New York Times best-selling author’s current wife has retained an attorney to fight the allegations that she was the other woman, something that she said has left her both “shocked and dismayed.”

Marjorie is pursuing a lawsuit against Shackelford.  “As a wife and a mother, I cannot stand back and allow the defamation of my character or actions that will malign my family,” the philanthropist said in a statement released through her attorney C. Anthony Mulrain, exclusively released to BlackVoices.com.

“So, I will do what I need to do to the greatest extent of the law.”Shackelford claimed she found e-mails and text messages between her ‘Family Feud’ talk show host ex-husband and Marjorie and that after she expressed a desire to get a divorce, he left and fled to New York City to be with Marjorie.
“The part that’s hurtful in this is my wife and children had to be drugged into this,” a frustrated Harvey said on-air. “If you’re going to be vindictive go ahead and aim it at me, but my son is coming in the room crying and that’s also her son, so why would you do this?”

The current Mrs. Harvey, who called the three viral videos “malicious and baseless,” stated that “the posting is nothing more than a sad attempt by Mary to make herself relevant in the eyes of the media.”

Marjorie is looking forward to making her case in court.  As previously reported, Shackelford said her ex-spouse is currently suing her in Texas, which is why she is now speaking up.Marjorie has been urged to not personally respond to allegations to avoid being held in contempt of the court.

I previously said it would be pretty messed up if the kids saw any of the things Mary put out there and below Steve touches on how they saw it or heard about it.  Steve Harvey spoke up on his radio show to clear up any misconceptions:

“I know the truth,” declared Harvey to his listening audience. “But the matter is, the part that’s hurtful in this is my wife and children had to be drugged into this. If you’re going to be vindictive go ahead and aim it at me, but my son is coming in the room crying. And that’s also her son. So why would you do this?

“And I don’t even understand the purpose of it,” he continued. “I mean, I got you mad 12 years ago, that’s what we’re doing now? And here’s the thing that my father always taught me. He said, ‘Son there’s three sides to every story. It’s their side, it’s your side, and it’s the truth.’ And the truth ‘gon come out. Because see, once you go public then you allow people to start asking some other types of questions.

“So, I’m just more concerned about my son, who I happen to have total custody of, rights to all education and everything. He’s with us on the ship today. And he doesn’t deserve to have to answer questions like this from his friends. And it’s just being inconsiderate of your own child.

“A lot of it is lies, but … a lot of celebrities get dogged out and pitched about and then there’s no repercussions behind the person who’s doing the pitching,” Harvey lamented on the airwaves.   “Here’s my job as a father to my son, I have taught him to be respectful of his mother and women overall. That’s what I’ve taught him. What he can’t do is see me going out making particular accusations and rants. It is still his mother and I’m his father,” he continued. “And it’s my job to raise him the right way. If I have custody of the child, which you have to wonder how that happened, then my job is to teach him by example. And he’s crying through this whole thing because his friends called and his sister found it on the Internet at the same time and it’s just horrible, but it is what it is, I’m good.

I appreciate all the support … the people that’s going to hate you they’re just looking for something to hate you for anyway. You could do me all you want, I don’t care what you say about me. But my wife and kids are off limits, I tell people all the time.” “I mean it’s simple, she’s just keeping a promise that they made. ‘I’m going to divorce you and I’m going to ruin you,’” he stated, referring to what some spurned spouses say during a divorce. “That’s the promise that was made. … But, Wynton’s with us and he’s doing well. If you want to pray for us then pray for Wynton, but things will be dealt with in the proper fashion this time. This time it’ll get dealt with in the proper fashion.”

Yes, she says he is now suing her.  He blames her for him not getting a show on Oprah’s Network.  She also  alleges that he took their son from her and turned him against her.  He left her penniless and homeless.

Peep this: In his book he goes on about his current wife Marjorie; how religious she is and how she loves the Lord.  He also speaks on the standards she had from the very first day she met him.  Contradictory much?

With allll that said, I deduce that his radio show is gonna be a beast this week……  Oh he is gonna go off.

Thoughts?

First, is she was not the only one in a relationship with her then husband Steve Harvey.  Another is that his current wife Marjorie was once his mistress.

Ironic that he is also the guy that currently coaches  a woman on how to keep her man and that he is the self proclaimed guru of marital advice. Did you catch all the documents she’s sorting through at the end of the video?  She looks as if she sifting through evidence or perhaps she maybe writing a book.  Am I reaching?

Let me also say that Mary coming out like this sure will throw a monkey wrench into his pseudo “Dr. Phil” advice game. Hmpf!!!

Introduction to Steve Harvey Divorce Settlement

Steve Harvey is a radio personality, entertainer, comedian and actor in the United States. He played a role of a comedian in “The Original Kings of Comedy”, a Spike Lee film. He has hosted “The Steve Harvey Morning Show” which is a radio program.

In January 1989, Steve had been to Arlington, Texas for a comedy show. Here, Mary Lee Shackelford was working for Fashion Fair Cosmetics. Steve wandered in this store and introduced himself to her. This is how they met.

For 17 years, he was with Mary during which the couple experienced a 10 year marital life. While they were married, Mary gave birth to a son, Wynton, in 1997. The couple got divorced in 2005.

Terms of Steve Harvey Divorce Settlement

• Child Support given by Steve to Mary: 1,000 USD per month
• Steve received all property and businesses

In 2007, Mary sued Steve in Harris County District Court for swindling her during the divorce settlement. She alleged that Steve and his lawyer cheated her into a quickie divorce. They intended to hide the following details about her ex husband during the settlement.

• Adultery
• Poor and neglectful parenting
• Physical and mental abuse of Mary

Mary added that during the November 2005 divorce, she was not aware of her rights to hire an independent lawyer. So, she had the same attorney as her husband and he was Ricky Anderson. Ricky convinced her that she was not legally eligible for more than 1000 USD per month as child support. In this way, she was deceived by the lawyer and her ex husband. As a result of all this, she feels that the divorce settlement regarding child support, division of community property and alimony was not just.

Mary has developed an opinion that Ricky sought to attain Steve’s interests and safeguard Steve’s image in the public eye as “Christian-type, likable, do good and packaged. Her ex husband and his lawyer attempted to quickly and quietly organize the divorce.

Taking into account the fact that Steve is a millionaire, the divorce settlement has been very measly for Mary. So, Mary stated that her ex swindled her for millions and also committed physical and mental abuse. If the judge would conclude that Steve derisively hid vital data from Mary, then Steve would have to face jail. On 20th December 2007, there was news that the probability of prison has coerced Steve to release money to his ex wife.

Court documents suggested that Steve owns a fortune of 20 million USD. Mary’s lawsuit and the nasty allegations made in it had begun to hurt his public image. So, Steve became serious about nullifying the lawsuit. Consequently, he became willing to offer 50 percent of what he owns to settle the case with his ex wife. It is expected that Mary would accept the offer of 10 million USD.
