5 indicted

You may recall the hearing about the unarmed couple that was shot 47 times in 2012.   The driver Timothy Russell, 43, was shot 23 times and his passenger Malissa Williams, 30, was shot 24 times, after a 23 minute police chase.  The officers spayed 137 bullets into the car that contained the victims.

Well,  5 supervisors (one female) and one officer were indicted by a grand jury based on these findings.  Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Tim McGinty announced the details of the indictments during a news conference.  Officer Michael Brelo was indicted on two counts of manslaughter for the killing of Timothy Russell and Malissa Coleman.

The five supervisors were indicted for dereliction of duty.

In part, the indictment reads:

The Cuyahoga County Grand Jury voted to indict Cleveland Police Patrol Officer Michael Brelo on two counts of Manslaughter for the killing of Timothy Russell and Malissa Williams on November 29th, 2012.

Under Ohio Revised Code Section 2909.03, Manslaughter is a felony of the first degree, carrying a mandatory prison sentence of from three to 11 years.

Officer Brelo fired 49 shots at driver Timothy Russell and his front seat passenger, Malissa Williams. This shooting took place in the parking lot of Heritage Middle School in East Cleveland Ohio as 10:53pm., following a lengthy, high-speed police chase that began in downtown Cleveland.

Evidence shows that a total of 137 shots were fired by Cleveland Police officers in the schoolyard. Investigators established that the victims were unarmed.

After more than 100 shots were fired at Mr. Russell’s car, it was trapped by police cruisers in a narrow lane and came to a stop.

Then Officer Brelo started shooting again and fired at least 15 shots, including fatal shots, downward through the windshield into the victims at close range as he stood on the hood of Mr. Russell’s car.

This was now a stop-and-shoot – no longer a chase-and-shoot.

The law does not allow for a stop and shoot.

Let’s be clear what happened here:

The driver was fully stopped. Escape was no longer even a remote possibility. The fight was over. The public was no longer in danger because the car was surrounded by police cars and 23 officers in a schoolyard safely removed from pedestrian traffic.

The primary danger facing the police at this time was from themselves, if they continued to shoot at each other in the circular firing squad they had inadvertently formed.

After the ceasefire, Officer Brelo unleashed an unlawful second barrage of shots.

The ultimate legal issue is whether the police officer was justified when he stood on the hood of Mr. Russell’s car and emptied his clip into the occupants after the chance of flight was completely eliminated and they no longer presented a threat to the public’s safety.

He was not.

In addition to the charges against Officer Brelo, the Grand jury also indicted Lt. Paul Wilson, Sgt Patricia Coleman, Sgt. Randolph Daily Sgt. Michael Donegan and Sgt Jason Edens each on two counts of Dereliction of Duty.

These five supervisors abdicated their leadership responsibilities during the 20-mile 22-minute high-speed chase that involved 62 police cars and more than 100 officers.

The supervisors failed to do their duty to control and manage the chase, and thereby endangered both the public and the police they were supposed to be leading.

Wow, he stood on the car like he thought he was in a movie or something.

New Music Whispers: Mary J. Blige – ‘Suitcase’ (Lyric Video)

Posted May 31, 2014 9:33 PM By Deirdre B Pride
Mary J. Blige Suitcase

I wonder if I took these scars
And put dirt in them
Would I brought me a brand new heart
Will love work again
If I keep let you hurt me
I might have to plead insanity
‘Cause everything in me is telling me to go

Cause I can’t keep on crying when I see ya
Messing up my make up
Thinking you gon’ change
But everything’s the same
Starting keeping secrets
Got my heart in pieces
I’mma ‘bout to pick myself up, and go

You gon’ wake up in the morn
And find out that I’m already gone
Got a one way ticket, here’s your goodbye song
And while you’re trying to explain
I’ll be zipping up my suitcase
While you’re trying to explain
I’ll be zipping up my suitcase
While you’re trying to explain
I’ll be zipping up my suitcase

Boy had everything
I never thought about another man
Gave you so much control on me
Your love really had me bugging me
If I don’t let you go, you’ll just keep on hurting me more and more
‘Cause everything in me is telling me to go

Cause I can’t keep on crying when I see ya
Messing up my make up
Thinking you gon’ change
But everything’s the same
Starting keeping secrets
Got my heart in pieces
I’mma ‘bout to pick myself up, and go

You gon’ wake up in the morn
And find out that I’m already gone
Got a one way ticket, here’s your goodbye song
And while you’re trying to explain
I’ll be zipping up my suitcase
While you’re trying to explain
I’ll be zipping up my suitcase
While you’re trying to explain
I’ll be zipping up my suitcase
One foot out the door
You won’t hurt me no more
Got my things, I’m on my way
There’s no reason for me to stay
Cause I finally see the truth
And I refuse to be used
I’m so cool not loving you
Zipping up my suitcase

You gon’ wake up in the morn
And find out that I’m already gone
Got a one way ticket, here’s your goodbye song
And while you’re trying to explain
I’ll be zipping up my suitcase
While you’re trying to explain
I’ll be zipping up my suitcase
While you’re trying to explain
I’ll be zipping up my suitcase

lance and his hands

Lance Stephenson was told by Pacers president Larry Bird to stop playing petty games on the court,  but it apparently it went in one ear and out the other.

As if that flagrant foul on Norris Cole wasn’t enough, Pacer’s court jester (pun intended) aka Lance Stephenson, goes and puts his filthy hands on LeBron James’ mouth.  He should have been ousted after hitting Cole in the head like he did, but I digress.

Meanwhile, after winning the series., LeBron was asked how he maintained his cool.

“I don’t know.   I have no idea how I restrained. I don’t know, I guess I just understand what the bigger picture is.  It was uncalled for, for sure.  That was — I don’t know.  I’m at a loss of words with that, but it was uncalled for, and I was able to move on from it. I let him know how I felt.”

Lance Bird and LeBron

LeBron checks Lance and Bird looks on

Watch Udonis Haslem give Lance some real heat…..

I like that in him.   He had no fuxs to give.   Can you figure out what he said?

Lance took to his instagram to post the following with the picture that follows:

I have much respect for LeBron and the heat. This was a great series they deserve it all love to Heat. Want to say that I’m so proud of my teammates we work so hard all year to get to point, Everything is a learning experience and getting better every year love u guys Pacer nation and thanks to all of our Pacer fans love y’all too

Bron and Lance hug it out

Awwwww!!!   Well, that certainly was a nice surprise.   The two even hugged after the game.  Good stuff!!!

I watched the first 5 min yesterday and  I got ready to post it, then something told me to check. It appears Starz went all out and posted the full first episode FREE. I’m getting a Nino Brown with a conscience kinda vibe from Ghost..

My take: James ‘Ghost’ St. Patrick has his childhood friend Tommy by his side who is his muscle.  Then there is his driver Sean, a snake who has his eyes on James’ wife Tasha, but he seems to be kinda struggling with it.  Watch what she does……SMMFH.   This bish Tasha is something else and is all for money.  As Ghost struggles with wanting out of the bad side of the game, wifey wants him to stay. LaLa plays Tasha’s best friend and she is totally enamored with Tasha’s life.  Watch for the ‘twists and turns’ and the major twist at the end.  Enuf out of me……without further adieu, I bring you James ‘Ghost’ St. Patrick and his $25,000 an hour growing empire.

From Executive Producer Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson comes the crime drama Power. James “Ghost” St. Patrick owns Truth, New York’s hottest, up-and-coming new nightclub for the city’s elite. When he’s not at the club, he’s kingpin of a lucrative drug network. Ghost wants to go legit but once you’re in, it’s hard to get out. Watch the first episode of Power for FREE now. Series premiere June 7 9PM ET/PT.

Good ish!!  I’m in it for the season. Will you be watching Whisperers?
