Sports Whispers: NBA Charges Donald Sterling; Hearing Date Set

Posted May 19, 2014 5:27 PM By Deirdre B Pride

The NBA has fomerly charged Donald Sterling with damaging the league and its teams with his racist comments.  He will be able to plead his case on June 3 hearing.  Owners could vote to terminate his ownership of the Los Angeles Clippers.

The league  said Sterling has engaged in conduct that has impaired its relationship with fans and merchandising partners.

”All of these acts provide grounds for termination under several provisions of the NBA constitution and related agreements.’

Sterling was banned for life and fined $2.5 million by Commissioner Adam Silver after the release of a recording in which he made racist remarks. He has until May 27 to respond to the charge, and the right to appear at the hearing and make a presentation before the board of governors. He has the right to a lawyer at the hearing, but strict courtroom rules of evidence would not apply.

Sports Whispers: Serena Williams Wins Third Italian Open

Posted May 19, 2014 1:34 PM By Deirdre B Pride

“I’m like a fine wine, I guess — at least my tennis is.  My game gets better with age.”

Our girl Serena Williams won in a a  6-3, 6-0 victory over home favorite Sara Errani to win the Italian Open for the third time.  Errani was hoping to become the first Italian to win the tournament in nearly 30 years, but she had to get by Serena to do it.

“I’m sorry. You were unbelievable all week,” Errani told fans during the victory ceremony, as she brushed back tears. “I tried to do my best and stayed on the court only for you.”

Serena told the crowd, “I’m also sorry for Sara today.  She really played great all week.”  We had to take the interpreters word for it because Serena belted it all out in Italian. Ace!!

LeBron James2

Jim Rhome wanted us to know it was real, so he retweeted the tweet :

NBAPA VP Roger Mason says LeBron James is prepared to lead a boycott of next season if Donald Sterling issue is not resolved. (via )

— SportsCenter (@SportsCenter)

There were initial ‘whispers’ that various teams wanted to boycott the playoffs when the Sterling recordings hit the net.   My initial thought was why would they sabotage what they worked so hard for all season for the likes of this ignorant MF?….just why?

The ballers must have gotten restless and chose LeBron to lead their plight by boycotting next season.  Boycotting the NBA from the beginning of the season wouldn’t necessarily sabotage their game, but it will delay them starting up.

Think of the lockout that occurred.  The NBA and the players will lose millions,  and they will also be forced to reorganize the game schedule…..if there is a schedule.  I’m told that there could be a e that would drag this thing to NBA hell.

Nonetheless, you do what you have to do.  no one wants to see their colleagues basically work for a damn slave owner.  Sorry, but that is what is appears like to me.  He should not be allowed to make money of these guys….guys he detests.  Damn that.  I support the whole damn boycott if it means getting the NBA to act more expeditiously in the matter.

Let Ray Lewis tell it, folks will start robbing banks and what not.….that was just so damn dumb to me.

Sports Whispers: Cleveland Browns Release Vince Young

Posted May 12, 2014 4:32 PM By Deirdre B Pride
Vince Young

Dang. they are serious about Cleveland right now.  Just a week after hiring Vince Young, the Browns have announced that they have released him.  This is just a few days after the Browns obtain Johnny Manziel.

Browns newest owner Jimmy Haslam is nothing to play with.  He’s been cleaning house with some surprising moves. The Browns also released DB Brandon Hughes, DL Brian Sanford, QB Alex Tanney, and RB Fozzy Whitaker.

Young’s release follows the club’s selection of Manziel, Texas A&M’s dynamic and polarizing quarterback in the first round of the NFL draft.

Vince was reportedly very happy to be given another chance  to revive his career, but will now have find a new home.

WTH? Cleveland Cavaliers FIRE Mike Brown Yet Again

Posted May 12, 2014 4:20 PM By Deirdre B Pride

David Griffin has been named General Manager of the Cleveland Cavaliers and Mike Brown has been released as head coach.

The Cavs say they chose Griffin because they believe he is the best person to lead the franchise at this critical time and into the future.

The Cavs also said he is a general manager “…who is aligned with our culture and philosophy which is the foundation of how we do business. David is not only passionate about his own job but also cares deeply about the success of everyone around him. His presence alone creates an infectious positive environment with players, coaches, front office people and even our fan base. We already saw some progress in the short time David led our basketball side in the latter part of this past season. Clearly, we have substantial work ahead of us and I am confident that Griff will play an essential part of the growth and success of our organization,” said Dan Gilbert, Majority Owner of the Cavaliers.”

“Over the last several months it has become clear to me that the Cavaliers are on the cusp of reaching the higher level of success that we all want and our fans so greatly deserve. At the same time, it has become apparent that certain changes are needed. We now have the assets to make those necessary changes and additions to our team,” Griffin stated.

These recent shakeups have me dizzy.  Alrighty then Dan.  Let’s see what you got for us.

LeBron James Dunk

Yes, Lebron James is Ohio’s Most Valuable Player.  I know his dolla value is leaking elsewhere, but it is what it is.

LeBron James was a huge man when he said Kevin Durant was worthy of being 2014 MVP.  Who does that?   This would not come from a selfish individual?   Kevin did deserve this merit and I wont deny that….. Kevin is also a nice guy.   If he wasn’t, this post would not apply.  But, my Bronny was also a  close contender….please believe.  His current stats are as follows:

Current Season Stats
27.1 6.9 6.3 20%

The history and the numbers are there, but I’m so sick of people being mean and caught up in old feelings.  Let it go.  It is what is is. Bronny is Ohio’s most valuable player.  LeBron is a nice guy that felt that he had to do things to make things happen for his family, his career and for his home town.

However, I do wish he would have stayed for more tries, but he didn’t.  You can’t change the past, but you can make history.

We are now in the present and we need to deal with the cards that were dealt.   We need to get this man home by any means necessary. Folks need to relax a bit and shake off old shyt. The problem is that people are still badly shook.

Obviously, I’m good and I have moved on, but I wish others would jump on the same.   I want him to come home.  I just wish all involved would make this things happen.  I wish Dan Gilbert would extend the I still love you branch and fix this.  I can already tell he wants to come home.

Bronny, you still have things to do here.   Your legacy should be completed with just one more hard core try at home.

Dear Cav’s,

Make this happen!!

B. Pride

PS.  I got some 23 stuff for you to sign once you come back.  Plus if Mo’s mean self wants to come back , make it happen

kev an bron

This is way too soon, but I already sent it.  I was in my feelings.  I stand by everything said, but I wish I would have waited.

If anyone has anything bad to say about Kyle Lowry off the court they are gonna have to answer to a lot of people; including myself.   Watching Kyle wipe his son’s nose and just cater to his son’s every move and parylay it all into an interview,  was just priceless.  Right now Kyle is probably wondering what the fuss is all about because he was just “shooting his regular”.   We must remember that these guys are just like our fathers and this is just what they do, like LeBron, DWade and Gilbert,….etc… cus there are more.  These hoop phenoms  have a life outside of basketball and it’s DAD.  I love seeing things like this.   Make Kyle a guy to stan for. K?
