Sports Whispers: Serena Williams Wins Third Italian Open

“I'm like a fine wine, I guess — at least my tennis is.  My game gets better with age.”

Our girl Serena Williams won in a a  6-3, 6-0 victory over home favorite Sara Errani to win the Italian Open for the third time.  Errani was hoping to become the first Italian to win the tournament in nearly 30 years, but she had to get by Serena to do it.

“I'm sorry. You were unbelievable all week,” Errani told fans during the victory ceremony, as she brushed back tears. “I tried to do my best and stayed on the court only for you.”

Serena told the crowd, “I'm also sorry for Sara today.  She really played great all week.”  We had to take the interpreters word for it because Serena belted it all out in Italian. Ace!!
